Hello all!
I feel like it has been well almost a month since I chatted with you guys....woops..... Oh well moving on. I am sure you all are wondering where on earth I have been the last month. Well I have been in the world wind called college defiantly a huge learning curve getting into the swing of things, specially since I am a full time student and working part time. Besides the first couple weeks of class there was nothing exciting going on. Last week was the first time we went into the lab(kitchen). We learned basic knife cuts and how to properly clean the kitchen and our equipment. Everything was going fantastic except for the fact I passed out... in the kitchen.. Now before you get all freaked out I think you should know the precursors to this little exciting event. It was one of the hottest days we have had in a while and the baking class in the kitchen next to ours was using our ovens which made the temp in the kitchen far over 80-85 degrees. I also had not eaten well little to nothing and was not staying hydrated so it was pretty much my fault. Plus the culinary outfits are starched and entirely to hot. So this is what happened I informed the Chef that I felt like I was going to pass out and actually waited for him to say it was okay for me to go and sit down. As I turned and started walking towards the door the room quickly started to turn black and then woosh everything was gone and I somehow made it to some kind of metal counter and was still pretty determined to make it to the door regardless. Then the next thing I knew I was slouched in the Chefs arm with three or four of my class mates all standing around me asking if I was okay. They gave me ginger ale with sugar in it and an apple with some ice water. They had to call campus police because of the nature of the situation but they where all absolutely wonderful and nice. Will this happen again? I hope not! I am doing everything I can do to prevent this from happening. That same day two of my other class mates managed to cut themselves with their knives. Over all it was a very exciting first lab. Well that is all for now. I hope to put another post up next week...hopefully.
